How does Typo3 help people managing the content of a website ?Traditionally, content management of websites has been a difficult task to perform by multiple persons.
First of all, unless expensive tools are bought, extensive training on website creation is required for users, such as learning HTML, graphic softwares, etc...
This severly restrained several companies to divided the task of creating content in two sections :
- the articles writers, who are knowledgeable about the content to put on the website, but not how to do it.
- The webmasters, who are knowledgeable about the technology required to publish articles, but not about the actual content of the articles.
Furthermore, companies has to rely on the webmasters to perform updates as simple as updating a price, changing a name or correcting an error.
When the webmaster was an outside consultant, it caused a lot of problems.
Finally, having multiple users managing content offline can be a nightmare since a user can modify a page already modified, but not yet updated.
With typo3, when a registered user visits the web page, it is possible to enable a front-end control panel which lets the user modify the pages instantly. He will see the pages additional icons like this :
If the user click on the little pen button after the "click here" text, a pop-up window will open, letting him edit the content of the page.
Notice the toolbar which looks and acts like normal windows application such as Microsoft Word.
