Some resources such as webspace and bandwidth are restricted. In the event a client should exceed the amount allocated by Cablan.net, the client risk being suspended until the amount due is paid.

However, some resources are not monitored including (but not exclusive of) :

• CPU usage,
• memory usage,
• disk activity.

If a customer abuse such resources, the client may be suspended until the source of the abuse is corrected.

Spam is the action of sending bulk unsolliciated emails

Under no circomstances spam will be tolerated from our clients.

Any client caught performing this action will have it's account immediatly suspended.

If we do decide to re-activate the account, it will be done only if a promise is made to completly stop the usage of spam.

On a second offense or if we feel the person was enough informed, the account will be terminated with no refund.

Our policy is strict. If one of our clients is sending spam, he will be suspended, even if the spam doesn't come from our server or if the domains linked on the spam are not hosted on our server.

Your business should only send promotional emails to :

• people who have emailed you in the past, wishing to receive informations,
• people who have joined one of your verified opt-in mailing lists.

Of course, you may send individual emails to other businesses to inquire about their products and you may send any emails required for you to do business with your customers.

However, if a customer has ordered a product from you, he must be allowed to be removed from any future mailing list not related to his purchase.

You should never purchase a list of so-called verified email addresses. If you use such a list, you will be suspended.

This policy is there to protect all Internet users from our clients. If every hosting company in the world was using such a policy, spammers would have really difficult problems sending spam.

Certain scripts are prohibited such as :

• IRC bots,  
• IRC servers or relayers,   
• scripts indexing external pages,   
• scripts accessing pages or directories on the server but outside his account space.

Usage of such scripts is risking having his account suspended or terminated.

Cablan.net has no objections to host legal adult content. If you plan to put adult content on your web site such as :

•  pornographic or erotic pictures, 
•  pictures showing nudity, 
•  erotic or pornographic texts or inforrmations,  
•  material otherwise forbiden to minors.

Contact us first. We do have plans allowing adult material, the prices and features are different than our standard plans.

To post something on your website, you need to have the right to do so.

Generally speaking, you have the right to post something if :

•  you are the author of the material,   
•  the author as released the material as being public domain, 
•  the copyright on the material is expired,
•  you have purchased a license from the author,  
•  you have otherwise a written proof that you have the right to post it.

Be careful, a picture on a website is NOT necessarly public domain. A text posted on a newsgroup first is generally considered public domain, unless it was published earlier.

As such, you cannot copy text or images from other websites, books, newspaper, etc... without autorization. This includes commercial MP3s, books and movies, even if you own a copy.
You may host MP3s, if you prouve that you hold the copyright or have the approval to do so.

 

 

Any content which is illegal to display in Canada or in the United States is not accepted on our servers.

This notably includes :

• child pornography,
• cracks or serial number of commercial softwares,
• information about certain criminal activities,
• restricted informations, such as transcript of confidential trials in Canada.

UPDATE : We now have servers in Canada. As such, content illegal in the United States but legal in Canada can be accepted on our Canadian servers.
