The Swiss Forum for migration and population studies is an independent research institute affiliated to the University of Neuchâtel. In 2004, they decided to redesign their website and integrate it into TYPO3. Cablan.net was selected to perform the design and program most of the fonctionalities of the website.

The website is trilangual (English, French and German) and presents it's news in all three languages. However, the orginal language of each of the news item isn't always the same,and several days may occur between translations. Worse, in 2004, localization was not well implemented in TYPO3 as it is now.

 

 

We programmed for the SFM website an extension to modify the TT_NEWS extension which allows to mark any TT_NEWS entry as a translation of another TT_NEWS item.

We also programed a custom extension to display the front page TT_NEWS results, allowing to show a new TT_NEWS item in it's original language if it was not yet translated in the currently displayed language.

We also customized their shopping cart extension for their needs.
