Prior to March 2008, all of our servers were located in the USA, despite being a Canadian web hosting company.
Several factors pointed us in that direction, in 2001:
- Better network connections in the USA
- Lower server prices coupled with better hardware choices
- Better free speech protections from the 1st amendment
- Better service from datacenters
In the last 5 years, datacenters in Canada increased in Quality and country based marketing became a major factor.
The increase in the Canadian dollar (from 0.65 to almost on par with the US dollar) and the recent decisions from the US department of the Treasury encouraged us to also get Canadian servers.
But even if we now offer Canadian hosting, you may still choose (free of charge) to be hosted in the United States.
